Please join us!\n\n\nSara has worked as an environmental educator since 1994\, leading programs and activities for a variety of natural resource agencies and organizations including the US Forest Service Resort Naturalist Program\, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resource – MinnAqua Program\, the Bell Museum of Natural History\, Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center\, and Olmsted County Parks. Since 1999\, Sara has worked as an Interpretive Naturalist for Minnesota State Parks at Forestville/Mystery Cave State Park and Whitewater State Park. Sara is the Founder and Board President of Project Get Outdoors\, Inc.

SUMMARY:Homebody Exhibit at Lake City Area Arts
DESCRIPTION:Our next visual art show\, Homebody\, is a collaboration the Lake City Historical Society (LCHS) and the Woman’s Club of Lake City (WCLC) and will features two artists\, Nicole Havekost and Jessica Kitzman. The exhibition will run from March 12–April 10\, with a closing reception and meet the artists on Sunday\, April 10.  \nJessica Kitzman is an artist and art teacher living and working in Minneapolis\, MN. Jessica holds a BFA from the University of Iowa and an MAT from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Primarily working in textiles and collage\, her studio practice centers around the deconstruction of domestic relics and other found material as a mode of understanding inherited systems of growth\, power\, and identity. Jessica’s practice is rooted in play and reinvention\, a natural act of resistance\, resilience\, and joy. \nNicole Havekost is an artist living in Rochester\, Minnesota. Her first museum exhibition “Chthonic” was presented as part of the Minnesota Artist Exhibition Program at the Minneapolis Institute of Art in November\, 2020. Havekost has exhibited extensively throughout the United States in both solo and group exhibitions. She is a 2020\, 2018 and 2013 Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative grant recipient. She is a long-time educator\, teaching at St. Mary’s University\, Winona State University and Rochester Community and Technical College in Minnesota as well as small liberal arts colleges in Southeast Michigan. She is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Printmaking. She also earned her MFA in Printmaking at the University of New Mexico. Havekost did not realize she was a sculptor\, and now considers herself a recovering printmaker. \nMarch 26th at 1PM Please join us for “Amazing Woman” Focus Group.\nHosted by LCAA and featuring Woman’s Club and Lake City Historical Society. DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, February 26\, 2022 is the 150th Anniversary of the Incorporation of Lake City!  To celebrate this momentous occasion\, the 150th Sesquicentennial Committee is inviting the community to the Celebration!  Please join us on Saturday at the High School for an afternoon of events. From 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. will be historical displays and music in the foyer of the High School.  At 2:00 p.m. the program will begin and will include Mayor Nichols and Representative Angie Craig\, music by the high school band and choir\, an amazing slideshow presentation\, readings and so much more.  After the program\, from approximately 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. you will be able to continue to enjoy the historical displays in the High School foyer that were put together by 15 different individuals and organizations of Lake City.  Also\, at 1:45 you will hear the ringing of the City Hall bells and at 4:30 we invite you to join City Hall and the Churches of Lake City in ringing the bells by ringing a bell of your own.

DESCRIPTION:Join us on February 12th from 10:30-2pm for a Fat Tire Bike ride on a fantastic groomed course!\nThis tour has a flexible course\, anywhere between 3-18 miles (or even more if you’re up for it!). The tour is at the Jewel Golf Course\, with 6 miles of groomed trail over the golf cart paths. There are also multiple miles of trail in some neighboring city property and decommissioned mine.\nThe course will be open from 11 am – 2 pm\, ride as much or as little as you like!\nThe event is free this year but a waiver must be signed at the Jewel Clubhouse before you can ride.\nA staggered start will begin at 10:30 to help maintain the integrity of the groomed trails.
