DESCRIPTION:Held June 4th 2022\, Tour de Pepin offers bicyclists from amateur to expert an opportunity to experience Lake Pepin from the saddle. The Lake City Chamber of Commerce hosts this supported ride\, which features a dozen manned rest areas with food and water and your choice of routes. Choose the 32 or 50 mile rides to Stockholm\, Wisconsin and get transported back to Lake City by bus or boat\, or cruise the 72-mile full loop all the way around the lake!\nFeel ambitious? DESCRIPTION:See\, taste\, and learn about innovations in water-healthy agriculture at Kernza Fest\, a first-of-its kind event by the Lake Pepin Legacy Alliance! Kernza is the first commercially developed perennial grain crop that not only benefits the soil\, but helps clean water with its deep root system. A cousin to wheat\, Kernza was developed by The Land Institute as a revolution in agriculture\, and is beginning to become discovered by chefs\, bakers\, and brewers. Kernza Fest will explore the ways this grain can be used in sustainable and delicious ways – with expert panels\, chef demos\, tastings (additional cost)\, specialty vendors\, kids activities and more!\nWho/what to expect at Kernza Fest:\n• Cooking with Kernza demos with Chefs Jametta Raspberry and Gustavo Romero\n• Expert panel speakers\n• Live music by the Roe Family Singers\n• Paper Plains\, an interactive experience in papermaking and native prairie planting\n• Free water testing with MPCA\, MN Dept of Agriculture and MN Well Owners Association\n• Shopping at the Marketplace with vendors and exhibitors: https://www.lakepepinlegacyalliance.org/vendors\n\nGeneral admission to Kernza Fest is free for all ages. DESCRIPTION:Join us for the debut of a new film followed by Q&A with filmmaker Ben Threinen. It tells the story of how\, with a homemade pair of skis and daredevil determination\, Ralph Samuelson made history on Lake Pepin. Ralph grew up right here in Lake City and invented a sport that is enjoyed worldwide. You’ll meet him in this 33-minute documentary film based on Gregor Ziemer’s book A Daredevil & Two Boards. Presented by the Lake City Historical Society in partnership with the Lake City Public Library. Suggested donation is $10 for adults and kids come free. All proceeds to benefit the Lake City Historical Society.
