SUMMARY:Dave Moore Live!
DESCRIPTION:overview\n\nThe Talent\nDave Moore is one of the great songwriters to come out of the state of Iowa. Known for his elegant songwriting and instrumental prowess on blues guitar\, button accordion and harmonica he has become somewhat of a legend. Coming of age in the late ’60s and early ’70s\, Dave enrolled in college only to drop out to follow a girlfriend down to Guadalajara\, Mexico. Though the journey lasted only a few months\, it was to be the first of many travels in Latin America and totally altered his world view. Returning to the States for the holidays in 1971\, his mother serendipitously left a harmonica in his Christmas stocking and he soon found that he could not quit playing it. He spent the next few years traveling the Southwest and Northwest\, working an assortment of jobs (lumberyard worker\, fruit picker\, plumber’s assistant) – all the time getting deeper into music. \n \n$21.50 online\n$24.00 at the door \nAgenda\n\n6:30-7:30 Doors\n7:30-9:30 Music\n\nLocation\nAddress: 67011 hwy 63\, Lake City\, MN 55041 \nParking\nONLY PARK ON EAST SIDE OF 82 (general store side of the gravel road) \nrefer to picture on homepage if confused \nAccessibility\nThe music venue itself is only accessed via staircase. SUMMARY:Long Time Gone Live at Lake City Area Arts!
DESCRIPTION:The “Golden Era” of bluegrass may be a long time gone — but not to the members of Long Time Gone. This band brings back to life the classic bluegrass hits of the 1950s\, hearkening back to an era when Bill Monroe\, Flatt & Scruggs and The Stanley Brothers ruled the country airwaves. Led by the soulful voice of Leo Rosenstein (mandolin)\,  Ben Manning(guitar) and Katryn Conlin (bass) anchor the band’s rhythm section while two of the region’s leading instrumentalists\, Barry St. Mane (banjo and Mike Hildebrandt (fiddle)\, trade dazzling breaks. \nBut Long Time Gone isn’t just about traditional bluegrass. The band branches out into old-timey songs of the 1920s and original songs written by band members. Double fiddle tunes\, a touch of Celtic\, hard-driving banjo instrumentals and quite a bit of instrument swapping keeps Long Time Gone shows entertaining. \n“It’s not just about playing the fastest tunes or the most intricate arrangements\, it’s also about having fun\,” says Ben Manning\, who handles much of the band’s front work. “This band evolved from a regular jam session that began back in 2000\, and we’ve always valued being good friends. We hope that enjoyment and ‘comfort zone’ of the band comes through in the music we make together.” \nBased in Minnesota\, the band’s favorite habitat ranges from Minneapolis-Saint Paul down the Mississippi River to Red Wing\, but they range further afield if the occasion arises. Long Time Gone plays bluegrass festivals\, summer concerts in the park\, weddings\, private parties\, civic events and just about any engagement that calls for the music of fiddle\, banjo\, mandolin and that classic high\, lonesome\, bluegrass sound.

SUMMARY:Paper Wings Live!
DESCRIPTION:overview\n\nThe Talent\nLong-time friends and collaborators Emily Mann and Wila Frank\, known together as Paper Wings\, dream up warm\, pastoral folk songs furnished with delicate banjo and spellbinding harmonies so close you often can’t tell their voices apart. On their latest project\, Listen to the World Spin\, the Nashville duo’s songwriting flourishes\, displaying their exceptional ability to reference nostalgic sounds of American folk music while maintaining their own compelling style of artful and unpretentious lyricism. Embracing themes of solitude\, nature\, and passage through time and space\, Listen to the World Spin is a beautiful exploration of how we are never alone in our search for meaning and certainty in difficult times. “We needed these songs to guide and comfort us through the last few years\,” says Frank\, “And we hope they’ll do the same for others.” Listen to the World Spin was released on March 15th\, 2024 with support from Free Dirt Records. \n \n$21.50 online\n$24.00 at the door \nAgenda\n\n6:30-7:30 Doors\n7:30-9:30 Music\n\nLocation\nAddress: 67011 hwy 63\, Lake City\, MN 55041 \nParking\nONLY PARK ON EAST SIDE OF 82 (general store side of the gravel road) \nrefer to picture on homepage if confused \nAccessibility\nThe music venue itself is only accessed via staircase.
