Ralph Samuelson: The Father of Water Skiing

Join us for the debut of a new film followed by Q&A with filmmaker Ben Threinen. It tells the story of how, with a homemade pair of skis and daredevil determination, Ralph Samuelson made history on Lake Pepin. Ralph grew up right here in Lake City and invented a sport that is enjoyed worldwide. You’ll meet him in this 33-minute documentary film based on Gregor Ziemer’s book A Daredevil & Two Boards. Presented by the Lake City Historical Society in partnership with the Lake City Public Library. Suggested donation is $10 for adults and kids come free. All proceeds to benefit the Lake City Historical Society.
